Rudolf Neudörfer was a Czech bow maker. He worked at the Cremona cooperation for string instruments and eventually worked at the renowned Finkel workshop in Switzerland for six years before opening his own workshop in Bubenreuth, Germany. His bows have always been both respected and remarkably reasonably priced considering in the 1980’s he won several prizes at the Violin Society of America and in Wiesbaden, Germany, where he won a gold medal for his violin bows.

His bows have become more desirable and sought after for their fine craftsmanship and playing qualities after his passing.

This German-silver mounted Neudorfer violin bow was probably made during his tenure at the Finkel workshop, and is a pristine example of his work, demonstrating both the finesse and strength for which Finkel bows are so highly regarded. It is stamped, *NEUDORFER* on the playing side, and SWISS MADE on the inverse. The octagonal stick is firm yet very responsive, and bears the classic “Finkel” shaped head and tip.
